Parker Red Band - Buona Pasqua!!!

Gustavo

Good evening dear friends of the forum...!!!
For these Easter I wanted to bring you, not only my wishes for peace, love and prosperity for these difficult times we are going through, but also this small present, from a restoration job, in a Parker 51 Red Band, color "Navy Grey" from the late 1940s.
I bought the fountain pen without the complete charging mechanism (the button, the button guide, and the complete internal mechanism were missing).
The cap was quite dented, missing the clip and its jewel, which I had to get separately.
The button, as in previous works, was made of chromed brass, with its bronze end, and the button guide and internal mechanism were also made of bronze, which I preferred as a nobler and more attractive material than the original aluminum. Unfortunately, I had to re-thread both the body and the cap of the button, and also thread the brass guide of the button, since it was impossible to get the tools to thread in American fine pitch.
With regard to the cap, logically after removing the imperfections, part of the engraving was lost, so I decided to continue removing the gold layer that was still left, to reveal the beautiful nickel plating that in many old Parker caps was below the laminated gold, finishin then giving to that nickel plating a mirror polish, and re-engrave the wide band that still remained of gold at its end.
The nib, the feeder and collector were in good condition, with the nib retaining all its iridium with the logical wear of a right-handed user.
I finished the restoration, giving a careful hand polishing and leveling of the button cover and total polishing of the body, placing an internal silicone bag...
And as I believed that this fountain pen deserved it, I finished all the work building a case for it, lined in external gobelin and internal taffeta with gold appliqués...
I must confess here, and not to miss the truth, that the Parker logo on the case, both in the photo and in the video, was faked, since I have not been able to acquire an emulsion and serigraphic frame, in order to print on the taffeta the logo, but I promise I will get it and the logo will end up printed....!!!
Dear friends... I sincerely wish you a happy Easter, and I send you as a present these photos and video that I hope you like...!!!
A big hug from Buenos Aires...!!!
Gustavo
